About this Opportunity

Cenovus Energy is currently looking for a Senior Advisor, Commercial Development. Reporting to the Specialist, Commercial Development, this role is responsible for supporting the Commercial Organization in the development and execution of Cenovus’s crude, NGL and natural gas transportation, storage and blending strategies. The role is responsible for the identification and evaluation of opportunity alternatives, commercial negotiations and management of contracts.

The scope of the role involves strong support and collaboration with Trading, Logistics, Engineering and other enabling functions.

Work Environment

This is a fulltime position, located in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with Trading & Logistics, identify opportunities that support the Commercial strategy and optimize the transportation portfolio
  • Detailed evaluation and recommendation of transportation solutions
  • Negotiate and be able to write commercial agreements
  • Liaise with pipeline and midstream companies as well as other shippers
  • Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and external industry participants
  • Manage existing transportation and Terminal Service Agreement contracts
  • Meet obligations that arise from managed contracts
  • Ensure invoiced pipeline charges reflect contractual obligations
  • Coach and transfer experience to other members of the team

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of relevant commercial experience with strong negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of long-term transportation contractual structure
  • Ability to comprehend complex commercial and legal matters
  • Understanding of pipeline tolling methods, contract design and service level identification
  • Strong understanding of Terminal Service Agreements
  • In-depth knowledge of upstream, midstream and downstream industry infrastructure
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and analytic/economic skills to create value-add solutions
  • Ability to progress opportunities using a project management framework 

Other skills

  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to organize, perform and prioritize various functions in a fast paced environment meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to travel outside of Canada
  • Ability to support the Commercial organization outside of core business hours
