About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Lead Enterprise Security, Cenovus is seeking a Security Professional that will be responsible for contributing to the success of the Enterprise Security Program. This Calgary based position will require security related experience and will be responsible for the implementation of security policy and procedures in various areas of Field Operations.


The successful candidate will be a team player and will contribute to and support all of the Cenovus security objectives.The position will demand strong industrial technical security skills including the design, implementation and management of physical security solutions including integrated CCTV, Access Systems and Alarms and their associated technical support programs.


The successful candidate will also provide technical input during the planning of new projects and facilities and make recommendations as infrastructure usage or risk levels change.The position will require visits to operational areas periodically to review operations and complete security audits. The successful applicant will address these daily challenges by using their relevant experience while demonstrating a high level of service and initiative along with excellent relationship building, problem solving, communication and leadership talents.

Work Environment

This is a full time role based in Calgary AB.


  • Ensure Security supports Cenovus Safety Objectives
  • Work collaboratively with Infrastructure, Field Accommodations and IT Teams to assess risk and provide security solutions
  • Conduct and follow up on risk assessments and security audits
  • Work collaboratively and provide advice to business units on security related issues
  • Provide guidance to site access administration
  • Assist in the implementation of corporate policies including the Cenovus Alcohol and Drug Policy
  • Input and analyze security incidents, identify metrics and trends that will assist to develop and implement corrective actions
  • Provide Security support during special events and activities


  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Possess a University Degree or relevant Post-Secondary Education
  • Have or be working toward a professional security designation, Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP)
  • Strong working knowledge of physical security design including implementation and management of physical security hardware
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry is desirable
