    About this Opportunity

    The Director, Enterprise Assurance, Compliance and Internal Audit is seeking 2 experienced leaders with strong internal auditing skills to fill a Manager, Internal Audit role. This role is responsible for directing a team of professionals, participating in the development and execution of the Enterprise Internal Audit Plan.

    The Enterprise Assurance, Compliance and Internal Audit team is recruiting for 2 roles.

    Work Environment

    This is a fulltime employee position working in our Calgary office.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute audits in accordance with the Internal Audit Plan along with resource utilization, work plan development and management
    • Participate as an active and high performing member of the Internal Audit team helping to ensure the team meets its objectives
    • Conduct assurance and advisory engagements as per the Audit Plan, providing guidance to other audit team members
    • Develop audit and advisory engagement programs/procedures as needed
    • Review audit observations, risks and controls with management
    • Validate and report audit observations to management with practical recommendations
    • Provide input and assistance to Leadership Team and Audit Committee reporting
    • Direct a team of 5-8 senior audit professionals comprised of employees and co-sourced service provider subject matter experts (SMEs)
    • Work closely with other leads to support execution of work plans including leveraging the use of technology as needed, with a specific emphasis on data mining and the use of analytics
    • Keep abreast of best practices in internal auditing
    • Manage actual costs for internal audit engagements to established budgets
    • Assist with various special projects, as needed

    Qualifications

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Accounting designation is required and other relevant auditing designations considered an asset
    • Minimum of 12+ years auditing experience preferred
    • 4 to 6 years of oil and gas industry experience required
    • Excellent audit process skills in both internal and external audit environments required, as well as an understanding of risk management principles
    • Experience with TeamMate or other similar products for managing audit issues, audit schedule and electronic working papers in an asset
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and consistently, with effective listening and excellent writing skills. Specifically, strong report writing skills is a key requirement of this position
    • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership in a deadline-oriented environment. This includes leading a team of at least 5-8 senior audit professionals comprised of employees and co-sourced service provider subject matter experts (SMEs)
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently
    • Demonstrated ability to work on special projects efficiently and effectively to deliver results on time, on budget, and as requested
    • Excellent analytical skills – to identify and cover the highest risks with efficient and practical solutions
    • Ability to extract data and work with systems and software applications
    • Experience with JD Edwards would be considered an asset
    • Able to travel in Canada and the US – although limited travel expected
