    About this Opportunity

    The Comptroller’s team has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Manager to join their Reporting team. Reporting to the Director, Reporting, you will be responsible for the preparation, review and analysis of the Cenovus Energy Inc. Consolidated Financial Statements and Management’s Discussion and Analysis.

     

    This position will work closely with other members of the Comptroller’s team to compile and analyze data. The successful candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence in reporting accuracy and demonstrates strong leadership skills while working a collaborative environment. This position will appeal to individuals who are highly motivated and enjoy working within a dynamic and fast paced environment.

    Work Environment

    This is a full time employee position working in our Calgary office. 

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare and review the interim and annual Consolidated Financial Statements, supporting information and Management’s Discussion and Analysis
    • Assist with the preparation of the interim and annual Consolidated Financial Statements in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format
    • Assist with the application of new accounting and financial reporting standards
    • Actively lead, mentor and manage the performance of the External Reporting team
    • Support month-end processing and closing procedures for consolidated financial statements
    • Prepare and review monthly schedules and reports for senior management
    • Assist with the administration, preparation and review of quarterly and annual information provided to shareholder
    • Assist with the review and preparation of technical accounting memorandums
    • Ensure adequate controls are in place and followed to meet Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance requirement
    • Assist with the preparation and review of legal entity financial statements
    • Provide technical support to business units
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • University degree combined with a professional accounting designation (CPA or CA preferred)
    • 15+ years relevant experience
    • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Continuous Disclosure requirements in Canada and the United States
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to execute in a time-constrained environment
    • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Prior experience managing people
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail and take pride in accuracy
    • Motivated individual able to work well both independently and as a team member
    • Experience with Hyperion consolidation and JD Edwards (JDE) and SAP financial systems an asset
