    About this Opportunity

    Our Foster Creek Asset Team is currently looking for a Senior Maintenance Planner and Scheduler.


    The Sr. Planner & Scheduler provides technical support, oversees daily work development, and provides training support to the Planning & Scheduling department. The Sr. Planner & Scheduler, is accountable to maximize human capital through the execution of approved planning and scheduling practices, aligned across FCCL, to help transition Cenovus into a low cost operating company.  The Sr. Planner & Scheduler, is accountable for effectively coordinating resources to achieve MP&S, maintenance, and operating targets.

    Work Environment

    This is a full time employee position working a shift of 7 days on , 7 days off, 11.43 hours per day. 


    Foster Creek has full service camp facilities. Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations. Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. Modes of transportation and/or schedules may change from time to time in accordance with changing operating needs and transportation availability.


    • Ensure plans and schedules are developed and provided for the maintenance and non-process infrastructure execution teams as per corporate standards,
    • Review and approve changes to plan and schedule requests by stakeholders; escalate as required for proper approval,
    • Align planning and scheduling standards/procedures between Foster Creek and Christina Lake and corporate R&M stakeholders.
    • Support goals and targets within the KPI measurement and reporting for the purposes of planning, scheduling and work order management,
    • Act as a SME in determining and establishing KPI measurement to manage maintenance improvements,
    • Track and adhere to common KPI across shifts and sites,
    • Maintain awareness of changes to regulatory requirements that are relevant to maintenance equipment,
    • Ensure that Maximo is utilized effectively and efficiently as a planning tool as well as P6 scheduling tools, supports work management process, and reports on maintenance activities, asset inventory, and equipment reliability,
    • Adhere to OSPO processes, business flows, procedures, and standard practices
    • Support Preventative Maintenance and Job Plan Reviews
    • Ensure adequate planned activities to fill the two week schedule
    • Manage and Execute Work Order Process:
      • Responsible for adherence to the Work Order life cycle process
      • Responsible to understand duties pertaining to lock-out-tag-out and other various critical safe work procedures
    • Ensure adherence to the AWT Maintenance annual budget through effective and accurate Planning & Scheduling
    • Provide planning and scheduling support for projects and corrective actions for Shutdown, Turnaround and Outage (STO) events
    • Responsible to liaison with all groups on site including but not limited to Maintenance, OCT, Operations, and Engineering
    • Responsible to facilitate and attend all required meetings within the maintenance management architecture
    • Provide coverage for absences


    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes pre-assignment testing
    • 8+ years of oil and gas experience
    • Relevant post-secondary education and/or related experience
    • Holds all required certifications to perform the job
    • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and ensure safety
    • Excellent project management, scheduling, and time management skills
    • Well-developed communication, and interpersonal skills
