    About this Opportunity

    We are looking for an accomplished Communications Advisor with strong web-based communication and organizational skills to join the Cenovus Communications & External Engagement team for 12 months, with a potential six-month contract extension. Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, but with some internal communications responsibilities, the successful candidate is self-motivated and is a strategic and creative thinker with experience developing, managing and organizing content on a corporate website and intranet. Excellent writing skills, experience supporting a variety of internal clients, a deep understanding of brand and solid social media experience are also required.

    Work Environment

    This is a contract 12-18 month position location in our downtown Calgary office.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and update the content and design of cenovus.com
    • Manage and update content throughout INC – Cenovus’s corporate intranet
    • Write and edit intranet news bulletins
    • Ensure the design and content of cenovus.com and INC reflect Cenovus’s brand and align with the company’s external messaging, strategy and culture
    • Provide recommendations on how to keep design, functionality and content on cenovus.com and INC engaging and fresh
    • Write and edit content and update graphics and photography on both sites
    • Manage the approval and posting process
    • Measure and report on the effectiveness of cenovus.com and INC
    • Complete special projects as assigned and as time permits
    • Assist in developing, writing and posting content and running campaigns on the company’s social media platforms
    • Participate in regular on-call rotation as the Information Officer or Social Media Lead for emergency response
    • Develop a strong understanding of Cenovus’s business, technology and key messaging, and stay informed on company and industry news and issues
    • Provide advice to and liaise with internal clients
    • Build strong relationships with peers and vendors

    Qualifications

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Post-secondary degree/diploma in communications or public relations or related education
    • At least five years of experience in corporate communications with specific experience in web-based communications and measurement
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Ability to multi-task and work on a wide variety of projects with multiple and competing deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Social media experience
    • Oil and gas communication experience an asset
    • IABC/CPRS membership an asset
