    About this Opportunity

    We are currently seeking an Advisor, HSE Performance and Data Management. Reporting to the Manager, HSER Programs and Reporting,  this role is accountable for ensuring Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance reporting systems are in place to communicate and track HSE performance against leading and lagging KPIs established by the business.  

     

    The role is integral in developing and applying data analytics techniques to identify trends and signals that progress the ability to reduce HSE risks to personnel and the business.  In addition, the role ensures data collection and management processes are in place and functioning to ensure data quality and integrity; this includes technical management of data systems.  

     

    This role requires a candidate that can bring together data capabilities with an understanding of health, safety and environmental issues to advance our ability to reduce HSE risks to the organization.

    Work Environment

    This is a full time employee position working in the Calgary offices.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and issue HSE performance reports to the business
    • Ensure performance reporting is aligned to KPIs required by the business
    • Develop performance reporting templates and formats
    • Manage digital performance reporting tools (e.g. Power BI)
    • Work with Environmental function, as required, to report environmental performance data
    • Manage HSER data to ensure it is accurate, available and aligned to the business
    • Conduct data QA/QC on a regular basis
    • Ensure data collection and management procedures are in place and auditable for HSER performance data
    • Collect hours worked data from the business
    • Partner with IT to ensure data management tools are up to date and working effectively
    • Ensure tools and processes to collect and report data are working effectively
    • Conduct regular analysis of HSER data to identify trends in order to communicate to the business where action may be required to address HSER risks
    • Engage with the HSER function and business partners to plan and communicate HSER data analysis activity
    • Identify data analysis/analytic tools that enable and enhance HSER data value

    Qualifications

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Posses a Bachelor of Science, Environmental or Safety

    • 5 years of experience working with data management and analytics
    • 2-5 years’ experience working in HSE related field
    • Exposure to HSE performance reporting, including KPI development, report template development, and KPI dashboard development/management
    • Ability to leverage the use of data analytics to pull trends and signals from data sets
    • Experience with data management, including data QA/QC
    • Advanced user of Excel and MS office suite of products
    • Solid understanding of oil and gas operations
    • Ability to calculate common CAPP/OSHA/HSE metrics

    Other skills

    • Experience with Power BI and/or Spotfire an asset
    • Experience with HSE incident management systems, such as Intelex an asset
