    About this Opportunity

    Reporting to the Manager of IT Architecture, Analytics, Innovation and Data Management the Lead Enterprise Architect is responsible to lead a team of Enterprise Architects and progress the Enterprise Architecture discipline. Key accountabilities are to ensure that accurate and actionable roadmaps are created and maintained for core IT areas including business capability models and reference architectures (conceptual). The role will lead and facilitate conversations with key stakeholders to align technology objectives with the business goals and outcomes. The role includes several areas of focus, including:

    • Information - Overall design of the enterprise information architecture, across multiple data types (structured, semi-structured and unstructured), balancing the need for access against security and performance requirements. Focuses on enterprise information requirements: design, access, usage and stewardship, with an understanding of emerging regulatory issues.
    • Technical - Leadership of facilitation, analysis and design tasks related to the development of a conceptual architecture. Consults with appropriate technical and business personnel on specific technical architecture elements and conducts focus group workshops. Reviews technical architecture artifacts and ensures that these are integrated into the Enterprise plan.
    • Business – Understand, document and visualize business processes, functions, organization designs and emerging requirements by working collaboratively with the IT engage function, process owners and subject matter experts. Creatively leveraging technology to enable or alter business processes or practices

    Responsibilities

    • Provide direction on the creation or evolution of the enterprise architecture function/program
    • Understand, advocate and support the enterprise's IT strategies
    • Facilitate the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive useful business context
    • Provide analysis of the current IT environment to understand opportunities
    • Provide analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture
    • Promote the EA process, outcomes and results to the organization, including the enterprise's IT and business leaders
    • Facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide EA decision making
    • Development of an implementation plan for the enterprise architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies
    • Facilitate the mapping and auditability of information assets as they flow from upstream legacy, package, or custom development and interfaces to downstream analytical applications, thus ensuring optimal transparency, quality, consistency and controlled redundancy across the enterprise
    • Ensure that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities (such as handling waivers) are associated with EA compliance

     

    Qualifications

    • College diploma or university degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
    • TOGAF certification an asset
    • IT Architecture Certification (ITAC) an asset
    • Data Management & Analytics Certification an asset
    • ITIL Foundations an asset
    • 7 to 10 years’ experience in leading at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations) in a multitier environment
    • 5 years’ experience designing and constructing business processes, functions and organizational structures
    • 5 years’ experience in the design and construction of information architectures that enable well-integrated transactional, collaborative and analytical systems
    • Experience leading a sub team on complex and time sensitive projects which was at least six months in duration to deliver on business objectives
    • Previous experience standing up and leading a high performing Enterprise Architecture group
    • Lead the design and implementation of standard Enterprise Architecture artifacts
    • Facilitating and driving, planning and road mapping conversations with service owners, including the production of the artifacts  
    • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes
    • Understanding of taxonomies and ontologies, as well as the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less structured sources
    • Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments
    • Ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area
