    About this Opportunity

    Cenovus People Services has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Specialist to join the team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining HR data integrity, providing end user support, troubleshooting functionality issues and assisting with the implementation of our new HR system. Reporting to the Lead of the People Service Centre, the HRIS Specialist will play a critical working role supporting the inflight Workday project through configuration and testing while leading the day to day efforts of the JDE support team.

    Work Environment

    This is an employee role based in Calgary.


    • Integrate across HR and other functions to ensure that the systems meet the required process requirements and service delivery levels
    • Support the Cenovus Digital team in the creation and deployment of a long term roadmap to mature Workday processes and capabilities
    • Oversee the regular reporting and audit cycles and assist with complex ad-hoc report requests
    • Ensure that nightly processes and daily organization hierarchy build are running without issues or errors
    • Review and audit HR Security access (which includes JD Edwards, Success Factors, DAS, Workflows, shared directories)
    • Provide day-to-day support for HR system users, which may involve responding to general inquiries, troubleshooting, and fixing data issues
    • Provide support for HR data integrations, interface failures and downstream application issues
    • Escalate JDE issues and assist in testing of applicable fixes
    • Provide support to the Workday project as required
    • Act as systems subject matter expert and liaison between Human Resources and Digital team for initiatives and issues as required


    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Degree in an HR or IT related field
    • Minimum 10 years of experience working with an HR system
    • Experience with Workday and JD Edwards
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
    • Excellent customer service and analytical skills
    • Strong knowledge of MS Office, Excel in particular
    • Proven track record of tact, confidentiality, initiative and sound judgement
