    About this Opportunity

    Cenovus is seeking a Security Consultant that will play a key role in the Enterprise Security program for the Cenovus site located in northern Alberta.  The environment is dynamic and fast paced and the site is home to contractors and employees. The successful candidate will reside on site during his/her rotation. 


    Reporting to the Cenovus Enterprise Security Group Lead , this contract position will be responsible for providing services related to the Cenovus Enterprise Security Program. The successful candidate will require experience applying security principles in complex and dynamic operational settings; be self-motivated and have strong orientations for service, measurement and continuous improvement; an exceptional communicator creating strong working relationships and be effective handling unique, difficult and often spontaneous situations. 

    Work Environment

    This is a contract position working at our Foster Creek Facility north of Cold Lake, Alberta.  It is a shift of 14 days on, 14 days off, 12 hours per day in addition to being on call. 


    • Assist in the implementation of the Cenovus Enterprise Security Program
    • Use formal structured security risk methodology to mitigate risk using an integrated approach
    • Assist in the enforcement of Cenovus policies and practices regarding security matters
    • Identify and mitigate security risks associated with on site personnel, camps and operations
    • Investigate and report on security incidents
    • Fill the designated role in emergency response and management
    • Daily direction and supervision of contract security guards
    • Maintain a close working relationship with all stakeholders
    • Build and maintain a close relationship with managers of all contract companies on site
    • Work closely with and support the vision of the Security Group Lead and the Enterprise Security team
    • Liaise with local law enforcement agencies
    • Must be prepared to work away from home and be "embedded" within Cenovus camps for the duration of their shift rotation


    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Must possess extensive background in industrial security and/or law enforcement with 4 or more years of experience

    • CPP and/or PSP designation preferred

    • Strong investigative background and incident management skills

    • Experience in security assessments and asset protection

    • Ability to manage all aspects of physical security solutions

    • Experience in emergency management

    • Strong management capabilities and program delivery skills

    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    • Demonstrated team building, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and often changing team environment

    Other skills

    • Experience in supervisory and leadership positions preferred
